Juniors – Colin Blunden

Now we are into 2017 I am very excited about the upcoming season and again having an active involvement within the club. This year will be my third one as a Board member of the Tuggeranong Hawks. Previously I was President of the Tuggeranong Bulldogs for a period of three years.

My association with Tuggeranong football started many years ago as a parent watching my two sons play as they started junior their footy with the Tuggeranong Bulldogs. Both of my boys are still playing, one will be in our Under 17’s team this year, the other is now playing senior football.  For both of my sons the Tuggeranong Hawks has been a lot more than just somewhere to play football.  It has been somewhere where many friendships have formed and a place not only where they have developed their football but also developed as people.  As a result, being able to represent the club and to wear its jumper is very important to them.  This is why I love being a part of this club.

My role as a club Board member is to oversee Junior football for the Tuggeranong Hawks. This year I will be working with a committee of Parents, our Coaches and Managers where we will be working on all junior matters and making sure that we are providing an environment and excellent culture so our junior players can feel a part of the club and enjoy their football.

I will also be working closely with the other junior clubs that are a part of the Tuggeranong Hawks family – Calwell Swans, Tuggeranong Bulldogs and Tuggeranong Lions. This year’s committee will include people involved with the Swans and Bulldogs Under 12’s and Lions Under 15’s to be part of the decision making and to work on the easy transition for the players and families of these teams as they join the Hawks in 2017.

Most importantly our committee will be working hard on ensuring that our club is able to provide a pathway for those looking to go as far as they can with their football, be it First Grade, NEAFL or beyond. It was exciting for the club in 2015 to see five previous Tuggeranong juniors go on to make their First Grade debuts and one previous Tuggeranong junior achieve a spot as a Rookie listed player on Eastlake’s NEAFL list.

For information about the junior season, updates and results of our teams, acknowledging milestones etc keep an eye on Facebook. I can also be contacted on 0409015400 or on colinblunden@y7mail.com
